2006 trocken Vulcano, Burgenland, Austria

Cool nose, slightly tart red and black berries and some sour cherries, prominent mineral and delicate floral notes, light smoky notes and spicy oak. Very firm on the palate, cool, elegant and juicy fruit, light acid bite, more light smoky notes and spicy oak, some bacon, fairly prominent but very fine tannins, prominent mineral notes again, full-bodied but also quite elegant, persistent, good depth, long finish.

Best to drink: 2010-2016+. What our ratings mean

Editor note: Cool, slightly tart nose, red and black berries and some cherries, floral traces, some mineral notes, delicate spicy oak. Concentrated and cool on the palate, dark fruit with light roasted oak, fairly prominent acidity, light acid bite, cool mineral notes in the background, firm structure, still young, quite full-bodied but also elegant, long finish.
