2006 Mittelburgenland DAC Ried Hochberg Blaufränkisch trocken, Burgenland, Austria

Nose shows some signs of maturity, delicate tart notes, raw meat, anise, mint, black berries, some red berries and cherries, prominent herbaceous notes and mineral notes. Clear, elegant, juicy fruit on the palate, delicate acid bite, some more mineral notes, prominent herbs and spices, polished and fairly persistent, hint of old oak, medium-firm structure, some laurel in the background, good to very good finish. Perfect companion with German Sauerbraten (vinegar-marinated beef)

Editor note: Slightly jammy nose, but also quite elegant and refreshing, red and some black berries, delicate herbaceous, mineral and roasted traces. Straightforward style, elegant and juicy on the palate, light herbs and spices, restrained oak and quite fine tannins, fairly creamy, cool mineral notes, very slightly salty, good persistence, good finish.
