2014 Blaufränkisch trocken C11, Burgenland, Austria

Firm, clearly wood-spicy, somewhat nutty aroma of ripe black berries and a hint of plums with dried floral nuances, a hint of pepper and coffee. Very ripe black fruit, nutty, somewhat toasty and slightly coffee-spicy wood aromas, present, fine, ripe tannin, lots of power but also some bite, lasting, still young, good depth, mineral tones, a hint of dried herbs, still seems quite young, very good, firm, tart finish.

Editor note: Firm nose ,still slightly reductive, earthy notes, some oak, hint of tobacco, black berries, hint of bacon and tar, cedary aromas, hint of dried mushrooms. Tart, dark, concentrated, firm, juicy fruit on the palate, toasted oak, hint of tobacco, peppery as well as earthy and salty mineral notes, fine, sandy tannins, initially slightly astringent, but become more integrated with aeration, light acid bite, excellent persistence and depth, still undeveloped, intially still austere and unapproachable, but becomes more polished and juicy in the glass, ethereal notes, coffee grounds, touch of dark chocolate, very good, long, tart, juicy, mineral finish. Needs time to mature.
