The estate is located in the commune of Fellbach (Remstal-Stuttgart area) in the German wine-growing region Wuerttemberg, The traditional company was founded in 1699 by Jakob Melchisedec Heid (* 1664). Today he is managed by Daniela and Markus Heid in the tenth generation of the family. The one under the Trott chamber (old wine press room) located vaulted cellar from the 17th century is used for cultural events and celebrations. The vineyards cover eight hectares of vineyards in the Fellbacher Goldberg and Lämmler, They are planted with the red varieties Trollinger, Lemberger, Spätburgunder, Regent, Dornfelder, Samtrot, Syrah, Portugieser, St. Laurent, Cabernet Dorio, Cabernet Dorsa and Cabernet Mitos as well as the white varieties Riesling, Kerner, Rivaner and Sauvignon Blanc. 70% of red wines are produced. The various wines, which come from relatively small plots, are grown separately. With white, rosé and trolling wines, gentle pressing, cooler slow fermentation and longer the fruit character emphasizes. Depending on the potential, the red wines mature in stainless steel tanks or up to 24 months in oak barrels. They are divided into three categories, which is marked on the labels with the symbol of one, two or, in the case of particularly long-lived wines, with three grapes. The flagship of the house is the red wine cuvée “M” (Melchisedec) named after the founder. The wine is blended from the Lviv and Pinot Noir varieties and matures in barriques for 22 months. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced. The winery is a member of VDP (Association of German quality wine estates).
