The winery is located in the municipality of Durbach (Ortenau area) in the German wine-growing region of Baden. The estate has been in the family since 1737. In addition to viticulture, fruit is grown on three hectares for the spirits produced in the estate's own distillery. Half a hectare each is forest and grassland. The owner Heinrich Männle is called "Rotwein-Männle" because of the predominance of red wine. The vineyards cover 5.5 hectares of vineyards in the Durbach single vineyards Kochberg, Ölberg and Plauelrain. They are planted with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir ( more than 50%), Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, as well as the white wine varieties Scheurebe, Klingelberger (Riesling), Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Müller-Thurgau and Gewürztraminer. Environmentally friendly viticulture is consistently practised with, for example, year-round cover crop. Fermentation is only slightly inoculated with pure yeasts in order to support the natural yeasts. In the case of the noble sweet wines, pure yeasts are mostly dispensed with completely. Most of the red wines are matured in traditional large wooden barrels, a third in barriques for at least 20 months in the granite vaulted cellar created in 1993, where an underground spring also gurgles.
