The estate is located in the community Burrweiler (area Southern Wine Route) in the German wine-growing region palatinate
, It was founded in 1960 by Elisabeth and Herbert Meßmer with the purchase of a traditional good. In 1984, the eldest son Gregor and his wife Sieglinde Meßmer joined the family winery. For some years, the second oldest son Martin is a partner of the winery, where he works in the areas of marketing, sales and sales. The motto is "striving for the highest quality". The vineyards cover 35 hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Altenforst, Schäwer
and Schlossgarten (Burrweiler), as well as Michelsberg (Weyher). They are about two-thirds of the white varieties Riesling (40%), Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Rieslaner, Gewürztraminer and Muscat, and a third of the red varieties Pinot Noir, St. Laurent, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot planted. It is consistently environmentally friendly viticulture with, for example, abandonment herbicides
practiced. Depending on the grape variety, the wines are aged in steel tanks, large oak barrels or barriques. The winery is a member of VDP
(Verband deutscher Prädikatsweingüter).
