The estate is located in the commune of Burrweiler (Südliche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region palatinate
, It was founded in 1960 by Elisabeth and Herbert Meßmer with the purchase of a traditional property. In 1984 the eldest son Gregor and his wife Sieglinde Meßmer entered the family winery. For some years now, the second oldest son Martin has been a partner in the winery, where he works in the areas of marketing, sales and sales. The motto is "striving for the highest quality". The vineyards cover 35 hectares of vineyards in the individual layers of Altenforst, Schäwer
and Schlossgarten (Burrweiler), as well as Michelsberg (Weyher). Around two thirds of them are planted with the white varieties Riesling (40%), Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Rieslaner, Gewürztraminer and Muskateller, and one third with the red varieties Pinot Noir, St. Laurent, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It is consistently environmentally friendly viticulture with, for example, waiving herbicides
practiced. Depending on the grape variety, the wines are aged in steel tanks, large wooden barrels or barriques. The winery is a member of VDP
(Association of German quality wine estates).
