Editor note: Tart nose, slightly noticeable warm alcohol, red and black berries, some undergrowth and tobacco. Ripe fruit on the palate, slightly bitter, sooty, tosted, nutty oak, hint of tobacco, fine sandy tannins, light bite, good substance and persistence, noticeable alcohol, hint of dark chocolate in the background, slightly rustic style, ripe fruit on a good toasted, alcoholic finish.
Best to drink: To 2020+

One of the eight specific wine growing areas in the Austrian province or generic wine growing area of Lower Austria. It is crossed by the Danube, on whose northern bank slopes many of the most terraced vineyards are located. The partly very steep vineyards are among the steepest vineyards in Austria.
