2001 Winningen Uhlen Riesling Auslese Roth Lay. Versteigerungswein, Mosel, Germany

Intense nose, stone fruit preserves, citrus fruit with a slightly mushroomy note, beeswax and honey. Very concentrated, intense, juicy fruit, very sweet, racy, elegantly proportioned acidity, very persistent on the palate, minerals in the background, more honey and beeswax, cleaner on the palate than it is in the nose, good presence, but still rather undeveloped, very long finish. Only the mushroomy odour in the nose at present prevents an even higher rating.
