2002 Winningen Uhlen Riesling erste Lage, "L", Mosel, Germany

Extremely concentrated, intense nose with minerals and spice, stone fruit, candied citrus fruit and drying-out apples. Very firmly structured, concentrated and juicy, interesting, elegantly proportioned acidity, intense salty mineral spice on the palate, tremendous power and depth, great persistence, gripping, very complex and very, very long.

Editor note: Some beeswax in the nose, followed by grapefruit, apple, peach and elegant mineral notes. Elegantly juicy fruit with harmonious acidity, and lots of slate/mineral notes, more wax on the palate, the fruit initially subdued, comes to the fore with aeration, this also reveals a lactic note that was hinted at in the nose, is round on the palate, but lacks a little in depth and length. Either a faulty bottle, or the wine is currently in a very strange phase.
