2011 Winningen Uhlen Erste Lage, Schieferformation Laubach, L, Mosel, Germany

Taut, deep and complex, but still restless, with air increasingly cool, clearly yeasty aroma of candied citrus fruits and stone fruits with candied-herbal aromas, a little beeswax and caramel as well as clear, tart minerality and black berry nuances. Firmly woven, ripe, sweetish fruit in the mouth, tart herbaceous-vegetable spice and again blackberry flavours, a trace of light tobacco in the background, very complex, gripping, has a lot of grip, power and substance, but also remains surprisingly fine for a wine from such ripe grapes, very deep and persistent, long finish with grip and traction
