The traditional family winery is located in the wine town Langenlois in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region Kamptal, It was founded by Josef Hiedler in 1856. For several decades, the company was run part-time. In 1980, Ludwig Hiedler, the fourth generation of the family, was the first full-time wine grower and, together with his Spanish wife María Ángeles, set the course for the future of the winery with consistent decisions. The owl as a landmark of the business should symbolize the "balance of nature and science".

The vineyards cover about 30 hectares of vineyards in the vineyards Gaisberg. hazel. Heiligenstein, Kittmannsberg, Kogelberg, Schenkenbichl. mirror, Stone house and valley. They are planted to 90% with the white varieties Grüner Veltliner (about 50% of the stock), Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay, and to 10% with the red varieties Zweigelt, Pinot Noir and Sangiovese.
