Editor note: Light spicy oak on the nose, hint of bacon, red and a few black berries, hint of tobacco, delicate spicy traces. Ripe, slightly warm and creamy fruit on the palate, light toasted oak, some cocoa and coffee, youthful, ripe, fine sandy tannins, light bite, slightly noticeable warm alcohol, good persistence, nutty notes, malted traces, more toasted notes on a good to very good, slightly warm finish.
Best to drink: To 2023+

The German growing area Franconia used to be in the three main triangle areas, Mainviereck and Steigerwald with 23 large layers and 216 individual layers. In November 2011 a new regulation was decided by the members of the Franconian Wine Association. The three old areas will be replaced by 12 much smaller ones. In the medium to long term, these will also replace the 23 large locations. The old areas once played a role in the predominant marketing of Franconian table wine, which they had lost for a long time.
