1999 Casparus, Franconia/Franken, Germany

Quite deep ruby to garnet red, slightly lighter at the rim. Aromas of cherries, plums and red berries, accompanied by smoky, spicy oak. Juicy fruit and cool oak, some pencil lead and cold smoke, fine-grained tannins, very straightforward style, attractive fruit on the palate, persistent, good length.
