The estate is located in the Deidesheim municipality (Mittelhaardt-Deutsche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region palatinate, It was founded in 1879 by Adam Biffar. In 2012 there was a change of ownership. The company, now operating as "Weingut Josef Biffar GmbH", is managed by Fumiko Tokuoka as managing director (the Japanese owner family Tokuoka ran the winery between 1989 and 2013 Reichsrat von Buhl ). Michael Leibrecht is responsible as cellar master. In the nearby sparkling wine cellar “J.
