2014 Freinsheim Spätburgunder trocken Im Tal, Pfalz, Germany

Dried vegetal notes on the nose, earthy notes, some old oak, prominent almonds, red berries and light cherries, hint of black berries, dried herbs, earthy and mineral as well as peppery traces. Firm, partly preserved warm fruit on the palate, some old oak and undergrowth, slightly brittle but fairly well integrated tannins, spicy notes, sweetish and creamy, noticeable alcohol, hint of soup greens in the background, hint of bacon, prominent salty notes, good substance and persistence, very slightly jammy, some cocoa and coffee grinds, slightly rustic style, very good, delicately sweet finish.
