2017 Westhofen Morstein Riesling Grosses Gewächs trocken, Rheinhessen, Germany

Nose still slightly reductive, very firm, deep and concentrated, hint of tobacco and some bacon, tart yellow fruit, hint of capers, prominent mussel shells and algae, smoky and peppery traces, intense mineral notes, elegant, spicy phenolic notes. Cool, tart, firm fruit on the palate, elegant, juicy yellow and green fruit, fairly prominent yeasty notes, prominent mineral notes, some yellow spices reminiscent of curcuma, very firm and concentrated, fairly prominent acidity, persistent and deep, fine tannins provide firm grip, floral traces in the background, very vibrant, still totally undeveloped, becomes even more concentrated, deep and complex with aeration, more mineral notes and very firm grip on a long, firm, tart, juicy finish. A monument which you should not touch for the next 10 years.
