2002 Leithaberg Ried Steinzeiler trocken, Burgenland, Austria

Deep and incredibly complex nose, roasted spicy oak, light smoked meat, very ripe black berries and some sour cherries, dried herbs, sweetish spicy notes and intense cool mineral notes. Concentrated and full-bodied, initially slightly dominated by oak, roasted and smoky notes, very prominent, dusty, still slightly astringent tannins, but develops more fruit with aeration, amazing mineral structure, which totally compensates for the oak after a day, shows more and more depth, tremendous persistence on the palate, very concentrated, compact structure, great depth and length, develops a huge range of layers and nuances on the finish. A masterpiece.
