2003 Blaufränkisch trocken Mariental, Burgenland, Austria

Oak-dominated nose with animal and roasted notes, with overripe preserved berries and light rubbery notes. Again overpowering and overripe on the palate, notes of partly fermented, ripe berries, slightly reminiscent of Amarone, plums, ripe and preserved cheries, quite powerful, but also has some acidity, oak less obvious, individualistic wine with some morbid charm, good, long finish. Could yield some surprising results with long maturation, but difficult to forecast.
