The winery is located in the municipality of Ilbesheim (Südliche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of Pfalz. The traditional family has been involved in winegrowing for many generations. The winery is run by Boris Kranz and his wife Kerstin. It was largely thanks to him that, after decades of effort, the Ilbesheimer Kalmit was recognised as an official single vineyard in 2008. The vineyards cover 17 hectares. They are 60% planted with white wine varieties and 40% with red wine varieties. These are mainly Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Sylvaner, Auxerrois and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as Pinot Noir. The wines are produced in three lines: site wines, estate wines and local wines. Some of the white wines are fermented cool after maceration and matured in steel tanks or large wooden barrels. The red wines are matured in barriques. Fine brandies (various fruit brandies, yeast, grape, pomace, cider) and bottle-fermented sparkling wines (Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé) are also produced. The winery has been a member of the VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates) since the beginning of 2012
