2000 Frühburgunder trocken, Ahr, Germany

Deep ruby to garnet, slightly lighter on the rim. Firm nose with black berries and plums, smoky and roasted notes. Juicy, quite full-bodied fruit, prominent spicy oak, quite fine tannins, firm structure, persistent on the palate, ample body with slightly noticeabel alcohol, fruity, spicy finish. Needs another two years on the bottle, and may be rated slightly higher then.
