2001 Ahrweiler Silberberg Spätburgunder Auslese trocken, Ahr, Germany

Plums amd preserved black berries on the nose, spicy with prominent mineral notes, some oak. Cool, concentrated and juicy, dark roasted oak, very fine tannins and lively acidity, extremely powerful on the palate, high in alcohol, but also has corresponding structure, very persistent, still undeveloped, roasted notes on the finish. Will improve with maturation.
