2003 Hochheim Stielweg Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese, Rheingau, Germany

Nose still fairly shy, but deep and concentrated, candied and dried stone fruit, mineral notes, caramel, honey and sweet herbsd. Extremely concentrated fruit on the palate, pure and full-bodied, creamy texture, racy and also extremely elegant acidity, fairly prominent cool mineral notes, tremendous structure and depth, wild herbs in the background, excellent length. Just misses an even higher rating as it is not that brilliant on the finish.
