2004 Hochheim Kirchenstück Riesling trocken, Rheingau, Germany

Frim nose, pomaceous fruit, some peaches and partly dried citrus fruit, tart mineral notes. Very firm again on the palate, taut, lively and quite juicy, slightly sweetish, but also has firm acidity, lots of carbon dioxide, light tannic touch, prominent mineral notes, persistent, slightly rough, lemony notes, full-bodied and deep, but slightly restless, very long finish. It is more restless and less well balanced than it was in its youth, particularly the noticeable sugar content and the rough carbon dioxide are currently detracting from its balance.

Editor note: Deep nose with intense mineral notes, pears, peaches, apricots and partly dried citrus fruit. Cool and racy on the palate, brilliant fruit, elegant acidity, carbon dioxide still noticeable, overwehleming cold, gripping mineral structure, light tannic touch, loads of peaches, citrus fruit and a hint of cassis, full-bodied yet elegant, still very youthful, very long, gripping finish.
