The "Vinum Saxum Kugler" winery is located in the St. Margarethen municipality in the Burgenland DAC area Leithaberg (Austria). The family has been involved in viticulture for several generations. It has been run by Josef and Maria Kugler since 1986, supported by son Alexander, daughters Angelika and Victoria. The vineyards encompass 13 hectares of vineyards around the Roman quarry on loamy primary rock soils. They are 50% each with the red varieties Blaufränkisch , Zweigelt, St. Laurent, Roesler, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah, as well as the white varieties Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Welschriesling, Grüner Veltliner, Weißburgunder, Muskat-Ottonel, Traminer and Neuburger planted.
It becomes natural, environmentally friendly viticulture with integrated crop protection practiced. The white wines are aged in the steel tank to be clean and fruity. The red wines mature in the newly renovated barrel cellar in large wooden barrels and increasingly in barriques. The flagship of the house is the red wine cuvée Vision No. 1 made from Blaufränkisch and Pinot Noir, aged for 13 months in barrels. Other premium wines are Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. When the weather is good, sweet wines will be like Trockenbeerenauslese and Eiswein vinified. There are also fine brandies, grape juice, Liqueur and honey.
