The estate is located in the commune of Weinstadt-Strümpfelbach (Remstal-Stuttgart area) in the German wine-growing region Wuerttemberg, It is located in the 500-year-old forest house in the historic center and has been managed by Margret and Werner Kuhnle since 1983. Both come from vineyard families with centuries of wine-making tradition. The vineyards cover 23 hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Altenberg and Nonnenberg (Strümpfelbach), Sonnenberg (Schnait), and Powder Maker (Stetten). They are 70% planted with the red varieties Trollinger, Velvet Red, Black Riesling, Pinot Noir, Lemberger, St. Laurent, Merlot, Zweigelt, Regent, Shiraz and Garanoir, and 30% with the white varieties Riesling, Kerner, Silvaner, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay ,

The white wines and the light Trollinger all mature in the stainless steel tank to maintain their aroma and freshness. In the case of the soft, full-bodied red wines, according to the typical “Swabian school”, the color intensity is promoted by gentle heating of the mash. The valuable red top wines undergo mash fermentation with a long shelf life. Afterwards, they are aged for two years in French and Hungarian oak barrels. The flagship of the house is the red wine cuvée “Forstknecht Marz”, which is named after the ducal forester, Johann Adam Marz. In 1749 he converted the old Strümpfelbach forest house from 1530 into a baroque half-timbered house in the style of his time. When the weather is suitable, dry berries are also pressed. Liqueurs (grapes, peaches), brandies and bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced.
