2005 Kamptal Grüner Veltliner trocken Eichenstaude, Lower Austria/Niederösterreich, Austria

Mature, nutty nose, pomaceous fruit and melon, vegetal and earthy notes, light herbaceous and mineral traces, light oak. Full-bodied and firm on the palate, mature fruit, sugar candy, vegetal and earthy notes, elegant acidity, very creamy, tart spice, fairly prominent mineral notes, persistent, has matured more quickly than expected, no longer all that convincing as in its youth, but not yet old, noticeable alcohol, also on a very good finish with spicy vegetal and earthy notes.

Editor note: Lots of ripe pears and honeydew melon on the nose, some pepper, caramel and dried herbs. Cool style with elegant, juicy fruit, firmly structured, with lively acidity, lots of pepper and a mineral backbone, very persistent on the palate, firm bite, excellent depth, very harmonious, tremendously long finish. Needs time to mature, and will probably still improve.
