2007 Kamptal Zweigelt trocken Granit, Lower Austria/Niederösterreich, Austria

Tart, somewhat sooty and roasted blackberry cherry nose with smoky, roasted, vegetal and earthy notes, as well as aromas of dried herbs. Quite juicy, dark fruit with dark wood aromas and slightly earthy tones, strong and persistent on the palate, slightly sandy-drying tannins, earthy tones in the background, very good substance and persistence, also juicy on the finish, on the other hand somewhat drying.

Editor note: Very ripe, preserved berries on the nose, undergrowth, sweetish spice, roasted notes and bacon. Fairly prominent smoky small oak on the palate, but also has prominent juicy cherry and red berry fruit, fine-grained tannins, very evenly distributed, has some depth, still largely undeveloped, slightly dominated by oak, but very well made from very good raw material, good to very good finish. Difficult to predict the further development, will still improve if the wine can win the battle against all the oak.
