The family winery is located on a hill between the communities of Talheim and Flein in the German wine-growing region Wuerttemberg
, Viticulture has been practiced in the two families Kurz and Wagner for many generations. The company was founded in 1964 as a mixed company at the time. Sybille and Otto Kurz introduced bottle wine marketing and gradually expanded the vineyard area. After training as a winegrower in vineyard
in 1999 and practical years in Rheingau
the company has been run by son Oliver Kurz and Ms. Anja since 2012.
The vineyards cover 14.5 hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Stiftsberg
(Heilbronn) and Schloßberg (Talheim). They are one third with the white varieties Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Scheurebe and Gewürztraminer, and two thirds with the red varieties Schwarzriesling, Pinot Noir, Velvet Red, Lemberger, Trollinger, Acolon, Cabernet Dorsa, Cabernet Mitos and Merlot. The management is done by hand with the quality criteria short pruning
in the winter, greening
, targeted defoliation and thin out
to reduce yields in summer. Only estate wines from our own vines are produced after selective hand picking. Burgundy wines are a specialty of the house. The red wines are generally mash fermented and, depending on the type of wine, mature in large wooden barrels or in barriques. Fine brandies (pomace, wine), liqueurs and bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced.
