The winery is located in the municipality of Eibelstadt (Maindreieck area) in the German wine-growing region of
Franconia. The traditional family business has been growing grapes since the 17th century, the family coat of arms even dates back to 1594. In 1994, a new economic, barrel and storage cellar was put into operation. Today, the winery is run by Ernst-Dieter Kilian, with Dirk Engelmann as the administrator. The vineyards cover seven hectares of vineyards in the single vineyards Mönchsleite with 60% of the area and Kapellenberg (Eibelstadt). They are planted with the white wine varieties Silvaner (30%), Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus, Scheurebe, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Kerner, Traminer, Rieslaner and Albalonga, as well as with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Dornfelder, Regent and Domina and the three red
PIWI varieties (fungus-resistant) Baron, Cabernet Cortis and Prior
The cultivation of the steep slopes and the harvest must be done largely by hand. Self-imposed low yields are an important quality criterion. The white wines are vinified in steel tanks as
dry Franconian wines typical of the grape variety if possible, but some are also vinified as
Spätlese and
noble sweet. The red wines are matured in large wooden barrels or in barriques, depending on the type of wine. The premium wines include Eibelstadter Kapellenberg Müller-Thurgau in
Bocksbeutel, Eibelstadter Teufelstor Riesling, Eibelstadter Kapellenberg Spätburgunder and Eibelstadter Kapellenberg Domina. Older vintages are also offered from the treasure trove. In addition, bottle-fermented sparkling wines matured on the yeast for several years,
Secco (sparkling wines), noble brandies (marc, fruit, sloe, rowan, hazelnut, walnut) from the in-house distillery and, in years with suitable weather conditions, an
ice wine are also produced. The winery is a member of the
