2004 Neusiedlersee Ried Schafleiten Syrah trocken, Burgenland, Austria

Incredibly peppery on the nose, prominent notes of smoked meat, with preserved cherries and black berries, with aeration increasingly develops mineral notes. Tart and peppery on the palate too, very firmly structured fruit and fairly prominent, taut but very fine tannins, dark roasted oak and more notes of smoked meat, acidity quite prominent, prominent juniper on the palate, here too the cool, almost cold mineral notes develop and increase, excellent structure, still extremely young, long finish. A magnificent wine full of character, an excellent representative of its variety as well as of its origin.
