2007 Ried Schafleiten Syrah trocken, Burgenland, Austria

Mixed berries on the nose, light nutty, smoky oak, earthy notes and some dried herbs, peppery traces. Tart fruit on the palate, smoky oak, hint of bacon, dried vegetal aromas, light acid bite, tart sandy, slightly astringent tannins, good substance and persistence, peppery traces, earthy and mineral notes, hint of licorice and some eucalyptus, fairly firm structure, slightly brittle with sandy, astringent tannins on good to very good finish.

Editor note: Clear, delicately tart nose, red berries and cherries with some black berries, hint of old oak, vegetal and floral traces. Fairly cool style, clear, fairly juicy fruit on the palate, earthy and mineral notes, light vegetal notes and some old oak, fairly fine and predominantly mature tannins, hint of tobacco, good substance and persistence, has some depth, light smoky notes, becomes increasingly refreshing with aeration, very good finish.
