2008 Ried Ungerberg Blaufränkisch trocken, Burgenland, Austria

Fairly tart nose, light dried vegetal notes and some tobacco, black and red berries, nutty oak, earthy notes. Ripe, juicy, fairly dark fruit on the palate, partly preserved, nutty<, spicy oak and some tobacco, light smoky and sooty notes, touch of sandy tannins, good persistence, light salty traces, full-bodied, slightly astringent with slightly bitter spicy oak on a very good finish.

Editor note: Deep, slightly stalky berry nose, intense earthy and mineral notes, herbaceous notes, nutty roasted notes. Full-bodied and fairly soft on the palate, but also has earthy and mineral notes, spicy roasted notes, preserved berries, some coconut, hint of green wood, delicately bitter herbaceous notes, medium-fine, still slightly prominent tannins, has substance and depth, very good finish. Needs time to develop.
