2009 Ried Ungerberg Blaufränkisch trocken, Burgenland, Austria

Mixed berries, cherries and plums on the nose, nutty notes, some dried herbs, juniper and rowanberries, light toasted spicy oak. Firm on the palate, ripe, predominantly dark fruit, smoky, toasted and slightly sooty oak, dark chocolate, vegetal and herbaceous notes, earthy and mineral notes in the background, fine, dusty, partly astringent tannins, quite persistent, but not particularly deep, slightly astringent again on a good to very good finish.
