The winery is located in the municipality of Hohenwarth in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Weinviertel. The traditional family business is run by Doris and Leopold Sutter, who are particularly concerned with Grüner, Roter and Frühroter Veltliner. August Sutter (grandfather of the current owner) was the first vintner in the municipality to bottle and market wine. With the Veltliner cuvée "Herrenberg" and the Blauer Portugieser he was represented in the best restaurants in the country (e.g. Hotel Sacher in Wien). The Sutter's philosophy is "near-natural cultivation of our vineyards, restraint in the cellar".
The vineyards comprise 25 hectares of vines on poor, chalky gravel and loamy loess soils in the Gartensteig, Hochstrass, Kellerberg, Laa, Mühlweg, Neubirg and Steinbruch vineyards. These are mainly planted with Grüner Veltliner, Roter Veltliner and Frühroter Veltliner. Riesling and the red wine varieties Blauer Burgunder, Blauer Portugieser, Blauburger and Blauer Zweigelt can also be found. The vineyards are cultivated exclusively by hand, be it pruning, foliage care or harvesting. The quality pyramid includes estate wines, local wines and site wines. Depending on the wine type, these are matured in steel tanks or in wooden and barrique barrels according to the vintage, location and variety. The premium wines include above all the Rote Veltliner "Alte Reben" and various Weinviertel DAC Reserve (Grüner Veltliner).
