The winery is located in the municipality of Landau/Nußdorf (Südliche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of
Pfalz. Viticulture in the traditional family dates back to 1605. The farm is run by Fabienne and Markus Lorentz. The vineyards cover 9.5 hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Herrenberg, Kaiserberg and Kirchenstück (Nußdorf). They are planted 50% with the white wine varieties Riesling, Cabernet Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Muscat, Kerner, Huxelrebe, Ortega and Müller-Thurgau, and 50% with the red wine varieties Dunkelfelder, Blauer Portugieser, Regent, Pinot Noir, Dornfelder, Merlot, Schwarzriesling and Frühburgunder. The vineyards are cultivated in a natural, environmentally friendly way without the use of
insecticides. The
confusion method using
pheromones is used on all vineyards.
Before harvesting, negative selection is carried out in order to process only ripe and healthy grapes. The young wines remain on the
fine le es for many weeks. The white wines are matured in steel tanks. The red wines all go through the classic
mash fermentation and are partly matured for many months in barrique. Premium wines are the Dunkelfelder Spätlese, aged for 22 months in two-thirds new barriques, and a Cabernet Blanc ice wine. Grape juices, noble brandies (yeast, wine), wine
jelly, sparkling wines and bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced. In years with suitable weather conditions,
ice wines are also produced. Around 35,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. The winery is a member of the Nußdorf Quality Winegrowers Association
