2001 Bad Neuenahr Sonnenberg Frühburgunder trocken, Ahr, Germany

Quite dense spicy nose of black berries, sour cherries, dried flowers, gingerbread spice and dried fruits with a mineral touch, and noticeable alcohol. Juicy, full-bodied fruit , slightly oxidative style, lively acidity and very fine-grained tannins, very full body with noticeable alcohol, firm mineral backbone, at present quite a racy, spicy style, very persistent and with a long finish, with rustic, toasted notes. May improve with age.
