2014 Walporzheim Kräuterberg Spätburgunder Grosses Gewächs trocken, Ahr, Germany

Firm nose, Mediterranean touch, moderate oak, hint of tobacco, polished red berries and cherries, dried floral traces, touch of elderberry, pepper and sautéed aubergine, dried tomatoes, herbs and mineral notes. Straightforward, elegant, juicy, fairly polished red and some black fruit on the palate, dark chocolate, spicy oak, intense dried herbaceous aromas develop with aeration, fairly firm, fine tannins, light bite, good depth, persistent, slightly creamy, but becomes firmer with aeration, dried herbs and tobacco in the background, firm structure, delicate hint of mushrooms, elegant, appealing acidity and clear contours on a very good finish.
