2015 Walporzheim Kräuterberg Spätburgunder Grosses Gewächs trocken, Ahr, Germany

Herbaceous, nutty and light earthy notes on the nose, red and a few black berries, prominent mushroomy notes, hint of smoked bacon. Firm, tart, juicy fruit on the palate, still rather closed, herbaceous and earthy notes, dark oak, some Earl Grey tea, fairly prominent fine sandy tannins, light acid bite, peppery spice, smoked bacon, prominent dried herbs, earthy and salty mineral notes, hint of ashes, some licorice, pomegranate and cassis in the background, still very young, becomes even more elegant with aeration, very good firm, juicy, spicy finish. Needs some time to mature.
