In 2002 Dorli Muhr and Dirk Niepoort founded the "Muhr-van der Niepoort" winery in the municipality of Prellenkirchen in the wine-growing region Carnuntum (Lower Austria) founded. After studying interpreting, Dorli Muhr founded the Wine & Partners agency in 1991, which today manages communications for companies and culinary projects all over the world. In 2004 she founded a group of quality-oriented winegrowers who set criteria for the use of the "Spitzerberg" origin and support each other. Dirk Niepoort owns the port wine house founded in 1842 Niepoort Vinhos based in postage (Portugal). In 2019 Dorli Muhr took over the 50% stake in her former partner. The winery has been operating under the name “Dorli Muhr” since 2017. As oenologist is responsible for Lukas Brandstätter.

The vineyards cover 12 hectares of vineyards on the Spitzerberg with pure limestone soil and extremely dry windy conditions. The areas on Spitzerberg were created by the association Traditional wineries Austria appointed to the first location.
