The winery is located in the municipality of Kindenheim (Mittelhaardt-Deutsche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of Pfalz. After training as a winemaker in Neustadt and Ebernay-Champagne, studying oenology in Geisenheim and a period of practical training in Argentina, Axel Neiss, the sixth generation of the family, has been running the family business since 1997. The vineyards cover 30 hectares in the single vineyard sites Burgweg, Katzenstein, Sonnenberg, Vogelsang (Kindenheim), as well as Heiligenkirche, Schlossberg and Sonnenberg (Bockenheim). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Silvaner and Chardonnay, as well as with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Dornfelder, Frühburgunder, Regent, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.

Farm management, vineyard management, cellar management and marketing are carried out according to the principles of sustainability in accordance with the certified rules of the Fair'n Green association. The quality pyramid consists of top wines (Burgweg Riesling, Burgweg Pinot Blanc and Glockenspiel Pinot Noir), site wines, local wines and estate wines. The grapes for the top and site wines are specially tended by hand. This includes careful pruning and defoliation of the grape zone. After selective hand-picking, they are processed without mechanical stress as far as possible. Cold maceration (cryomaceration) is used for both red and white wines. The Burgweg Riesling is yield-reduced to a maximum of 35 hl/ha and undergoes an eight-hour maceration period. The Glockenspiel Spätburgunder is yield-reduced to a maximum of 2,000 l/ha, aged for 18 months in French barriques and bottled without filtration.
