The winery is located in the municipality Bad Kreuznach in the German growing region Near, The family's wine-growing tradition dates back to 1627 as documented. In 1842 two brothers from the 10th generation emigrated to America, of whom Eberhard Anheuser founded the Anheuser-Busch brewing group in St. Louis (Missouri). His nephew Rudolf Anheuser is considered one of the most important wine pioneers on the Nahe. He expanded the company to its current size, planted vineyards in one sentence and introduced bottling. His descendant Paul Anheuser, after whom the winery is named today, pushed for the expansion of dry wines. In 1969, 13th generation Rudolf P. Anheuser took over the estate, and since 2005 the 14th generation has been managed by the two brothers Rudolf and Paul Anheuser.
