2009 Walporzheim Kräuterberg Spätburgunder, Ahr, Germany

Slightly floral and a hint of nutty scent of predominantly red berries with slightly vegetal and bacony hints as well as some wood. Quite tart fruit in the mouth, clear, bacony and raucous wood spice, quite present acidity, some sandy and drying tannin, dried-vegetable notes, a touch of soup herbs, earthy to mineral notes, some warmth, some persistence, tart and quite brittle finish. In the meantime clearly more drying than in its youth.
