2001 Spätburgunder trocken, Rheingau, Germany

Spicy oak, roasted and smoky, leather, with aromas of red and black berries and plums. Quite firm, juicy fruit, lively acidity still dominated by oak influence, smoky notes on the palate, also mineral notes, good substance and quite powerful, persistent, but as yet undeveloped, spicy oak also on the finish, but fruit is coming through.
