Weingut Peter Lingen

The winery is located in the community of Bad-Neuenahr-Ahrweiler in the German wine growing region. The traditional family has been growing wine since 1599 and the winery was built in 1922. Senior Peter-Josef handed over the management of the estate to his son Hans-Peter in 1987 and he is now the tenth generation of the family to run the business with his wife Tanja. The vineyards cover four hectares in the locations Kirchtürmchen, and (Bad Neuenahr), as well as and (Ahrweiler). They are planted with the red wine varieties Spätburgunder, Portugieser, Frühburgunder and Dornfelder, as well as the white wine varieties Müller-Thurgau and Riesling. The vineyards are cultivated conventionally, pest control of the steep slopes is partly done by helicopter spraying. The soils are covered with straw to improve the water retention capacity and ensure an optimal humus supply. The red wines are traditionally subjected to a five to ten-day open mash fermentation in stainless steel tanks, if possible with the vineyard's own yeasts, and most of them are aged in large vats. Only smaller batches mature in new barriques. The red wine "J*A*C+N" from Frühburgunder or Spätburgunder, which was matured in barriques, was named after the first letters of the first names of the four children. The white wines matured in steel tanks make up only a small proportion.
