, The Schnell family had been cultivating wine in the Palatinate since the mid-17th century. The Pfeffinger estate was acquired by Valentin Schnell in 1931. His son-in-law Karl Fuhrmann took over the business in 1952 and subsequently converted the formerly agricultural mixed enterprise completely to viticulture. His daughter Doris Eymael, one of the few women at the head of a German winery, has shared the management of the winery with her son Jan since 2002. The vineyards cover 12 hectares of vineyards in the Ungsteiner vineyards Herrenberg
, They are planted with the white varieties Riesling (50%), Scheurebe, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Blanc, Silvaner, Auxerrois and Chardonnay, as well as the red varieties Pinot Noir and Cabernet Dorsa.
