, The family Schnell has been operating viticulture in the Palatinate since the middle of the 17th century. In 1931 the Pfeffinger estate was acquired by Valentin Schnell. His son-in-law, Karl Fuhrmann, took over the business in 1952 and, as a consequence, completely converted the previously mixed agricultural business to viticulture. His daughter Doris Eymael, one of the few women at the head of a German winery, shares since 2002 with her son Jan the management of the winery. The vineyards cover 12 hectares of vineyards in the Ungsteiner Lagen Herrenberg
, They are planted with the white varieties Riesling (50%), Scheurebe, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Blanc, Silvaner, Auxerrois and Chardonnay, and the red varieties Pinot Noir and Cabernet Dorsa. A specialty of the house are dry to noble sweet wines from the Scheurebe. About one third of the production goes into export. The winery is a member of VDP
(Verband deutscher Prädikatsweingüter).
