2013 Shiraz trocken Maria's Vineyard, Burgenland, Austria

Earthy and peppery notes on the nose, some undergrowth, mixed berries and cherries, whiff of provencale herbs and cactus, light smoky oak. Fairly cool, firm, juicy fruit on the palate, herbaceous notes, light peppery spice, hint of cherries and pomegranate, noticeable acid bite, tannins still slightly sandy, tart nutty notes in the background, some cocoa, more provencale herbs, hint of bacon, opens up with aeration, tannins initially brittle, but develop to become more harmonious, more peppery spice and lively acidity on a very good tart, juicy finish.
