, The family, steeped in tradition, has a long tradition of viticulture, the ancestor Albert Plag was one of the early pioneers of Kürnbach viticulture. His son Reinhold then made the successful move from grape grower to self-marketer in 1982. Today the company is managed in the third and fourth generation by Werner Plag and his son Philipp. The vineyards cover eight hectares of vineyards. 70% of them are planted with the red varieties Schwarzriesling (40%), Pinot Noir, Lemberger, Dunkelfelder, Cabernet Corsa and Velvet Red, and 30% with the white varieties Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Gewürztraminer and Müller-Thurgau. The wines are marketed in the three lines Gutsweine, Premiumweine and Excellance. Depending on the type, they are almost exclusively dry-aged in steel tanks, large wooden barrels or up to 18 months in barriques. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced.
