The estate is located in the municipality Mönchhof in Burgenland wine region Lake Neusiedl (Austria). It was founded in 1910 by Albert Pöckl, who had come back from America. After the war, Theodor Pöckl took over the farm in 1947. He was followed in 1979 by his son Josef Pöckl (1951-2011), who gradually switched to red wine production. The aging of the barrique started in 1989. "Admiral Pepsch" is considered one of the most important Austrian red wine pioneers. The company is run since his death since 2011 by son René Pöckl, who had been responsible since 2001 for the entire wine line. The vineyards cover 32 hectares of vineyards in the vineyards Kaiserberg, Kreuzjoch, Kurzbühl, Langberg, Pohnbühl, Rappühl and Wiesacker. They are 99% with the red varieties Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch , Pinot Noir, St. Laurent, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Blaufränkisch planted. The small remainder are the white varieties Welschriesling, Chardonnay and Scheurebe. In addition, grapes from contract growers are also purchased.

The flagship of the house is the red wine cuvée "Admiral" (70% Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot). The cuvée "Mystique", produced only in the best years and smallest quantities, serves to further develop the Admiral concept. There is no mention of the cuvéetation, but in a blind tasting, for example, this wine beat the red wine of the famous one Château Lynch-Bages in Pauillac. With the exception of the pure Pinot Noir, the premium wines are red wine cuvées, most of which are aged for at least 18 months in barrels with a high proportion of new barrels. These are for example "Rêve de Jeunesse" = youth dream (Syrah, Zweigelt, Merlot, CS), "Rosso e Nero" (Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch , CS, Merlot) and only since 2004 "Solo Rosso" (Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch , Pinot Noir ). The lighter, fruity reds such as Zweigelt and Solo Rosso are marketed with the narrow label, the bold with the classic red and black label. From the white wine varieties, especially sweet wines such as Trockenbeerenauslese are pressed. Every year, 200,000 bottles of wine are produced. Around 10% are exported to European countries and overseas.
