Editor note: Cool nose, prominent vegetal notes, reminiscent of green asparagus and bell peppers, white and yellow fruit, floral notes, touch of elderflower, peppery traces. Ripe, juicy, slightly warm fruit on the palate, yeasty, vegetal and herbaceous notes, touch of yellow spice, polished, lively acidity, elegant tannic grip, prominent chalky mineral notes, some depth, more asparagus, hint of black berries, very good, slightly warm finish.
Best to drink: To 2021+

The first vines were in this area about 2,400 years ago by the Celts planted. The Romans influenced the viticulture especially in the area of Poetovium (Ptuj = Pettau). The Roman wine author Pliny the Elder (23-79) mentioned viticulture in the karst area and described these wines as an elixir of life. During the migration of peoples viticulture came to a standstill again. But in the middle age the wines at the courts of imperial Wien and archiepiscopal Salzburg were much appreciated.
