The estate is located in the municipality of Winningen (Burg Cochem area) in the German wine-growing region Moselle
, It was founded by Richard Richter in 1838 and is now managed by Claus-Martin Richter and his cousin Thomas. The vineyards cover almost seven hectares of vineyards in the Winninger vineyards Brückstück, Domgarten, Hamm, Röttgen
, They are planted with 90% Riesling, Pinot Noir, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay. Although the vaulted cellar under the winery building is filled with wooden barrels, these have not been used for wine expansion since 1995. The romantic atmosphere is still used for representation purposes. The Rieslings are aged in stainless steel tanks, the Pinot Noir in used barriques. The top wines have been closed with stainless steel bottle caps of the "Stainless Cap" brand for some time. Bottle-fermented estate sparkling wines from Riesling have also been produced since 1987.
